YoJS Meeting #3
API's or application performance interface is how companies and websites store and share their data. We'll be talking about how you can use these power sets of data to make your own application. We'll also talk about the amazing powers of CSS, style some sites and talk about Twitter Bootstrap to quickly design sites. No experienced with HTML/CSS needed to attend, all skill levels are welcome! Not required to but feel free to BYOC (bring your own computer) to code along.
Examples include the Twitter API which allows for people to create bots, the Google Maps API to create custom maps, and my favorite the GIPHY API to feed your GIF obsession.
We will look into how API's work and hopefully be able to code out something like this by the end of the MeetUp which just uses information from GIPHY's API: https://chinjon.github.io/giphy-app/
Here is a video tutorial on how to make a weather application using a free weather API: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLK28VPJvCE
